My mother, Eleanore Layko Ruscil, died peacefully, here in Petaluma, California, February 10, 2018. I was with her when she took her last breath. Eleanore was 93.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Eleanore Layko was the youngest of 5 children. The family attended Holy Name Church and Eleanore went to the parish elementary school. She was a Chaney High School graduate. She wed Ted Ruscil of Long Branch, NJ. They were married 40 years when Ted died in 1984. She relocated to California in 2009.

Eleanore loved theatre, (her dramatics class with Miss Russell @ Chaney was her favorite) traveling, painting & was a gifted seamstress. She read aloud brilliantly & performed with a Monmouth County readers theatre group for local senior communities.

Eleanore is survived by a daughter Susan Ruscil Sikora of Petaluma, CA,and a son Mark Ruscil of Tinton Falls, NJ, as well as family in Ohio, NJ, NY and CA. Following cremation, a funeral Mass will be celebrated March 16 at St. Vincent De Paul Church, Petaluma, CA.
To the end, one of her most treasured momentos was her Chaney HS Yearbook. I still have it here.
